Little Torture Garmets

8 · Feb · 2006

There are gazillions of books out there that explain the drawbacks of being pregnant. But none of them told me how much I would hate the most basic garmet of all.
Ladies and genetlemen, meet my worst enemy.

No, I'm not talking about Victoria's Secret in general. It's the panties.

Panties, for me, have become a symbol of torture. Panties are cruel when you are pregnant.
I refused early on not to wear "Granny Panties". Here is why:

I refused to wear such things since the 5th grade, actually. And while I know you are reading this saying outloud "She is NOT writing about underwear, IS SHE?", I don't care as much as I thought I did.
Someone has to tell the female readers this devestating news.
Underwear of any kind is worse than wearing six inch heels on ice. It's even worse than eyeglasses of a perscription that isn't yours.

I won't go into the details, but just know that in the first few months of his/her life you and your baby will have this funky thing in common for a while -You will both swear that there is a conspiracy at work to cripple you with every piece of clothing you put on. When you get home in the evenings you will start to unlayer yourself, thinking if you just take off your jacket, your shoes, your socks, your sweater, your pants, your bra, that you will feel better.

Then, finally it will hit you - It's the panties! The panties are killing me!!!
