I Hope

When my niece, Alexis, was a little girl I would look at her and think You will make things better. Our lives were not bad. But I was right. She did make things better.

Now I look at my daughter and I feel the same. Though I am not expecting August to make mine and Mike's lives better, she certainly does. More so, I am thinking of what she will become, the other lives she will connect with, the things she will see with her new eyes and explain back to us, changing the way we feel.

Maybe she will be an artist, a writer or a professional surfer. Maybe she will work in a bank or a clothing store or a factory. I don't know. What I do know, what I believe with all my heart, is that she will be exactly beautiful with her understandng, kind with her words, compassionate with her actions and generous with her time. We will teach her that.

Or maybe she will become a lazy bum who sits around your house and doesn't leave until she's in her 30's. HA HA!! Just kidding. Cause by then that's what I will be doing to you.
