Filling Shoes

i walked in someone else's shoes
she must've been a fair maiden
i could tell by the way he cupped
her face in his hands
she was beautiful
i think he would have fought an army
to have her in his bed
that night

if i was yours
would you be like this
always
he asked

if it was possible to cross over
the barriers
of time
i'd be there now
in the safety of his arms
in the quietness of his castle
and i'd forget how
hard
it is
to fill someone
else's
shoes
