Imus? I Must!
12 · Apr · 2007
"Nappy headed ho's" Is that what he said? And they took away his TV show? Are you serious? Thinking of canceling his radio show? WHAT?
Do any of you listen to morning radio?
I used to listen/watch Imus but it's been a while. A few years actually. I never really noticed him being a racist scumbag before. Or maybe I did hear some of his stupid comments and realized he was only joking. That's what radio entertainers do. They put a spin - a personal spin on current events. They are not obliged to be a shinning example of decency or political correctness. They say things you and I wouldn't say to get a laugh even if the laugh is followed by "Oh he is so BAD. Tee hee."
I don't agree with what Imus said and if MSNBC wants to take him off the air because they don't want people to think they agree with him then that's fine. But I doubt they are interested in his politics. They are interested in ratings. Ratings = money. If enough people stop listening to his show it will go away.
Another thing that struck me as bizarre during this whole thing was the Rutgers Coach sobbing while saying, "We will not let him steal our joy." Looks to me like you gave up your joy in trade for some air time and a little attention. Let's all keep Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson in the news as much as possible, PLEASE!
When I was in grade school my mom told me that if someone called me a name or said something about me that wasn't true, I should ignore them because all that person wants is attention. My Dr. Sears book on raising my child says the same thing about annoying baby behavior.
"Imus? That old man on the radio? He's an idiot, obviously. I can't believe you're even considering that news. Ask me about something worth talking about." That's what I wish one of those Rutgers teammates would have said from the start. That would have made me admire her. Now? Now, I just see a bunch of college kids caught up in more drama, wasting more airtime than Imus did with his original comment.

I wouldn't be surprised if Imus's show got even bigger now.
Sometimes media just IS drama. As if we were asking for it... Would someone please feed me as much stupid information as they think I need, then tell me how stupid the information is I am being fed, so I can respond with more, so I can be fed more... Uuuuuuugh!
You can always fall back on Patrick Swayze's advise in Roadhouse...
Bouncer - "But what if they call my momma a whore?"
Swayze - "Well is she? ...Be nice."
I completely agree with you, you nappy headed friend of mine. :-)
